Four years ago, John Stehr ran for Mayor because he believed Zionsville needed a clear vision for its future.
Since then, we have worked together to put the Town on stronger footing, make important investments in our community and prepare Zionsville for the opportunities ahead.
We’ve made real progress.
But the work isn’t finished.
The first term was about building a strong foundation. The next four years are about building on it—strengthening our economy, continuing to invest in infrastructure and protecting the character that makes Zionsville such an extraordinary place to call home.
A Strong Foundation
Responsible Financial Leadership
Strong communities require strong financial foundations.
During John’s first term, Zionsville worked to strengthen its financial footing, improve long-term planning and put the Town in a better position to make responsible investments.
That stronger foundation has allowed Zionsville to move forward with important public safety and infrastructure projects while securing favorable financing that protects taxpayers.
Good government starts with responsible stewardship, transparency and making decisions today with tomorrow in mind.
Investing in Public Safety
Keeping Zionsville safe will always be one of Town government’s most important responsibilities.
As our community grows, our police, fire and emergency services must have the people, equipment and facilities they need to serve residents effectively.
During John’s first term, Zionsville moved forward with significant investments in public safety designed to meet today’s needs while preparing our community for the future.
We will continue making sure Zionsville’s first responders have the resources they need to protect our families, neighborhoods and businesses.
Improving Roads, Trails and Connectivity
Infrastructure is one of the most important investments a community can make.
Over the last four years, Zionsville has moved forward on important road and trail improvements, including projects designed to improve safety, connectivity and accessibility throughout the community.
Those investments must continue.
The decisions we make about roads, trails and other infrastructure today will shape how Zionsville works for families and businesses for decades to come.
Protecting What Makes Zionsville Special
Growth should never mean losing the qualities that made people want to live here in the first place.
Zionsville’s Comprehensive Plan provides a framework for thoughtful, sustainable growth while protecting the historic Village, our rural heritage, parks, neighborhoods and the unique character of our community.
John believes growth should be intentional—not growth simply for growth’s sake.
Zionsville can welcome opportunity and plan for the future without giving up the identity that makes our community special.
Stronger Regional Partnerships
Zionsville is part of one of the fastest-growing regions in America.
Our future success depends not only on what happens within our Town limits, but also on how effectively we work with our neighbors.
John has strengthened relationships with communities and leaders throughout Central Indiana so Zionsville has a stronger voice in regional conversations about transportation, economic development, infrastructure and growth.
Those partnerships will become even more important in the years ahead.
What Comes Next
A Stronger Local Economy
A healthy local economy helps support excellent public services, strengthens our tax base and creates opportunities for local businesses and residents.
During a second term, John will continue working to attract thoughtful economic investment that fits Zionsville, supports our community and helps ensure homeowners are not asked to shoulder an unnecessary share of the cost of Town services.
Economic development should strengthen Zionsville—not change what makes it special.
Infrastructure for the Next Generation
Zionsville must continue looking beyond the next year or the next project.
The infrastructure decisions we make today will shape our community for generations.
John will continue prioritizing responsible investments in roads, public safety, trails and other infrastructure that help Zionsville remain safe, connected and prepared for the future.
Protecting Zionsville’s Character
Zionsville is successful because it is different.
Our brick-paved Main Street. Our historic Village. Our rural areas. Our parks. Our neighborhoods. And the sense of community that connects all of them.
As Central Indiana continues to grow, protecting those qualities requires thoughtful leadership and a clear vision.
John will continue working to make sure progress and preservation go hand in hand.
